Recent wars in Endabatsahima/Edagaarbi:
Edaga Arbi is a town in Ethiopia’s Tigray region that has been affected by the Tigray War, a civil war that began in November 2020. The town has experienced airstrikes, drone strikes, and the killing of civilians, including some by Eritrean soldiers. In January 2023, Eritrean forces withdrew from Nebelet and moved to Edaga Arbi, and then attempted to return to Nebelet, which led to crossfire with Ethiopian forces. In July 2024, local authorities reported that more than 200 people had starved to death in Edaga Arbi due to drought and war. Officials also warned that the region was on the brink of famine, similar to the one that occurred in 1984.
